12/10/08

Weather: Cold and cloudy. Highs in the high 30s.

J.R. with Bailey Electric has been here all day setting boxes on the first floor.

Southland Framers have been framing on the second floor

We unloaded a truck of 16 bundles of 2x6x104 5/8 and loaded 9 bundles of 2x6x92 5/8 and 2 bundles of 2x6x116 5/8. We unloaded the 3rd floor floor trusses.

NES brought a compressor and concrete saw for us to take out the oncrete out around the whirlpool.

Frank Torrez came by to see Joey and Alex. He took us to lunch.

12/11/08


Southland framers are setting the 3rd floor, floor trusses and beginning to punch out on the first floor.

J.R. with Bailey Electric is setting wall boxes and running conduit. He strung some lights in the lobby and corridor.


Mike with Moses Plumbing came out to field check on the second floor. He said it’s going to be more difficult now because we have 12” open web trusses instead of 16” like what was stated earlier, or “I” beam trusses like the planes called for.

Todd with Advanced Sprinkler has a couple of guys here working on chipping out the concrete where we’re enlarging the whirlpool. Todd moved some spoils off site and knocked some dirt piles down to make it easier to get around the site.


I took pictures of the repaired trusses, labeled them and emailed them to John.


12/15/08


Weather: Very cold and cloudy. Rain and sleet over night and into the morning. More freezing rain this afternoon and tomorrow. Highs in the high 20s.

No framing on the 3rd floor today. It’s a sheet of ice up there. Oswaldo and his crew are working on the first floor and second floor.

J.R. with Bailey Elec. Is here working on boxes and conduit on the first floor.

Joey was here this morning to meet with John and Alex.

We shut the job down early because of the weather.


12/16/08


Weather: Very cold and icy. An inch and a half to two inches of ice and sleet fell over night.

The job site is shut down today. Conditions did not allow anyone to be out and working.


12/17/08


Weather: Still very cold and icy.


Got to the site later in the morning. The framers worked on scraping ice off of the floor most of the day. They started popping lines for the 3rd floor this afternoon.

Bailey Elec. Is here putting in boxes for the 2nd floor and running MC cable in the first and second floor.


12/18/08


Weather: Cool and warming through out the day. Foggy in the evening.


The framers started standing walls on the 3rd floor. They got about half of it done.


Bailey Elec is on site running wire and setting boxes.



12/19/08


Weather: Mostly clear and cool.


I cleared a spot for Freedom Fire to stage their materials on out lot. Gary Simms had called and requested it so that his guy could deliver their stuff on Saturday.

The framers are making good time on standing the 3rd floor walls. They should finish with them today.


Bailey Elec is on site running wire and setting boxes on the first two floors.


Mic and Jay with Magnum materials came bt to talk to John and do some take offs for pre-rock dry wall. They brought John a vest, a Christmas card and some cookies.

Alex and I went over some dimensions. Some of the closet walls and bathroom walls will need to be moved.


12/22/08


Weather; Clear and cold. Highs in the low 30s.


Southland framers finished standing the last of the 3rd floor walls. The 4th floor, floor trusses and components were delivered on Saturday. They started rolling trusses today and had about half of them finished. Over the weekend they had moved all of the closet and bathroom walls that needed to be moved.

Bailey Elec is here on site running wire and setting boxes and drilling through studs for MC cable.

Ron Shumate with Seaside Pools came by to show us where the new skimmer will be placed. We had two guys picking and digging the dirt out of the whirl pool area.

John and Alex discussed the lay out of the extended stay suite on the 3rd floor with Chase until 6pm.


12/23/08

Weather: Cold and cloudy. 70% chance of rain. Highs in the 30s

Canant Concrete, who is replacing Turner Construction, came to saw out the concrete around the whirl pool and to grout around the anchor bolts that are exposed and to finish grouting in the elevator pit.

Southland framers started setting trusses but had to pull off because of sleet and freezing rain. They’ve been working on punch out items on the 2nd and 1st floors.

Gary noticed that the stair well landing on the north side of the building going up to the 3rd floor is 3/4 of an inch too high. They didn’t allow for the doubled decking.

Bailey Elec has finished what they can on the first and second floors. They’re waiting on the decking for the fourth floor so they can move up to the 3rd floor.

We’ve got a couple of guys busting out the concrete that was cut out around the whirlpool.

Bailey is on site finishing up odds and ends.

We finished getting all the concrete out around the whirl pool arear.

12/8/08 - 12/9/08

Turner Construction is here setting some forms in the northg parking lot and doing some misc. clean up.


Todd with Advanced Sprinkler is moving some of the dirt spoils off of the site.


JR with Bailey Electric is on site doing some feild checks.


Joey and Alan were in town today to meet with the Patels. They made the decision to enlarfe the whirlpool.


Southland is framing the second floor. One of the lift operators drove the sky track around the back of the building and blew part of the dry block wall out. They stood most of the exterior walls up and put down extra OSB in the corridor.


12/9/08


Weather: Raining and cloudy. Nearly half an inch of rain fell over night. The site is ver wet and muddy. Chances of rain all day and into the night.


Southalnd is here framing the 2nd floor. They will be read for trusses tomorrow. There have been several issues worked out between Southland and Chase about deminsions in several of the bathrooms.


Ron with Seaside Pools came out to see what needs to be done about expanding the whirlpool.


We recieved the shop drawings for the linen chute that the office had send over.

11/25/08 - 12/2/08

 United Rentals came by and picked up the whacker packer from Kerry.

 Two framers showed up on site around 8:45. They were waiting on Oswaldo.

 Todd's crew is here working on the wall in the back.

 Oswaldo showed up around 9:30. They framed some of the south end of the building.


 11/26/08


 Moix finished the steel on the slab. They had to cut and weld a few pieces.


 Southland has been framing all day. They have framed up to the pool and elevator area.


Turner Construction poured the footings and set the anchor bolts for the porte corche

 Joey was here supervising the framing from 8am to 3pm.

 The Patels came be to look around the site.

 Todd's crew had been working on the dry block wall in the back of the building.


12/1/08


 Moix set the small steel columns for the porch at the front of the building. They had to move two columns and a beam that was inside the slab, four feet to the east.


 Turner Construction cut holes in the concrete for the steel that had to be moved. They poured the washing machine pad in the laundry room. They poured around the steel columns that Moix set today and filled in the rest of the columns on the slab.


 Southland has all the 2x6 walls framed on the first floor. They are rolling the trusses and placing the glue-lam beams. They finished almost half the trusses for the first floor.


 We went and got another skytrack from Hugg and Hall for Moix to use while the framers were using the other lift to set trusses.


 Advanced Sprinkler is working on the dry block wall on the east side of the building. Brad is bringing us a fuel tank to use on site.


 12/2/08

 
 Moix is on site setting the steel for porte corche. This is the last of the steel.


 Turner Construction is on site to wreck forms and pour around the last of the steel columns.


 Southland is setting trusses and decking. We had to order 30 treated 2x6s, 30 1x4s, 2 boxes of steel anchor drive heads and 2 boxes of charges.


 Moses Plumbing came on site around 9am to see how the trusses were working with the plumbing. Mike said, so far so good.


 Alex w/Southland came on site around 11.

 
 Moix discovered a steel beam missing that goes to the porte corche. It wasn't shipped from the fabricator because it was on backorder. It will be here in the morning.


 Porter Brownlee came by the site today to look around and take pictures.


 Some of the trusses are having to be engineer fixed in the field. NT Truss is supposed to fax it to us this evening or in the morning.

 Brad with Advanced Sprinkler cut the line for the temporary power that runs to the building. Bailey will be here in the morning to fix it.
